Calm the @#$%! Down!

Geez, enough people.

I realize that 4 straight losses seems like the end of the world to some of you but for God's sake, stop crying, wipe the snot bubble from your nose and back away from that ledge.

Yeah last night sucked but for a minute, let's forget about Zambrano's early exit due to injury, Howry's implosion yet again, and what seemed like Derrek Lee's 843rd GIDP this season.  After an abysmal weekend at the plate we not only got some extra base hits, we did so in grand fashion as Soriano, DeRosa, Soto and Edmonds all went yard.  Also the bullpen just got deeper with some September callups, including Angel Guzman who's back from the dead  AIDS  scurvy  being enslaved in a sex cult Tommy John surgery.  Guzman didn't look too bad in his inning of relief.

Oh yeah, also we're still 4.5 games ahead of the Brewers and 9 games ahead of the Phillies for the Wild Card IF it came to that, but it won't dammit.  This is the best Cubs team I've seen in my life thus far.  When Howry crapped the bed and gave up 4 runs I didn't panic at all.  There was plenty of ballgame left to come back, and an inning or so later that's exactly what they did.

Still not settled down?  Here's some more reading to help curb your overreaction.

Also if Zambrano has to be shut down for a while so be it.  It wouldn't be the end of the world as we would still have a top 3 of Dempster, Lilly, Harden in our rotation.  A healthy Z in October is more important than him struggling through a couple September starts with dead arm.

Also as much as I hate the Astros I have to respect their ability to hit.  God damn that's a scary team to face, and Carlos Lee wasn't even in the lineup!  I'm working on a piece about which players are the most clutch and unclutch in the NL Central and after digging through all the stats, it's hard to make an argument and not include Carlos Lee and Lance Berkman at the top of the clutch list.  Also scoring well in the clutch test, Geoff Blum.  Well, I guess we don't need reminding of that.

Anyway, calm the F down.  We're doing fine, so sit back and watch tonight as we WILL win.
